By popular demand, we hereby publish our other favorite lunchrooms for children in Haarlem and surroundings (click here for last year’s list). Especially with the nice weather of late, it is wonderful to spend an afternoon lazing on the terrace with your children. Or inside, if it rains again. It remains the Netherlands of course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Frisk aan het Spaarne<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
\n

Frisk is located on the Spaarne and established in the former characteristic Droste factory. On the terrace or in the cozy indoor area you can enjoy dishes inspired by the Nordic Kitchen: simple and healthy seasonal dishes. Because of its location on the water you can even bring your boat to Frisk. Is there no place on the terrace? No problem, Frisk is happy to serve snacks and drinks on your boat. On Sunday morning from 10:00 to 12:00 Sm\u00f6rg\u00e5sbord is served, a buffet with various dishes. Also very nice for children!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brownies&downieS

The successful and unique catering concept of Brownies&downieS expanded to Haarlem in 2016, where this lunchroom is located in a stately building in the picturesque Schagchelstraat. In this special restaurant you are served by people with a mental disability or other distance to the labor market. The menu is full of delicacies. Choose a delicious brownie, like the Blondie Blueberry, or order a pulled pork sandwich. For children there are, among other things, America Pancakes and a sandwich on the menu. So there is plenty to choose from! And what’s more, by having lunch you are supporting this noble concept of hospitality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Papa\u2019s Beach House
<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

In the Haarlemmermeer Forest, situated on a calming lake, is Papa’s Beach House. This Hoofddorp beach pavilion has a terrace above the water and a small private beach, where your kids can play. On the menu there are several salads and sandwiches for the parents. For the children there is a special children’s menu: fries with a croquette, a cheese souffl\u00e9, kibbeling or chicken. It may be a little further by bike than you are used to (from the center of Haarlem it is about 9 kilometers), but then you really get a break in this Hoofddorp oasis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

City beach de Oerkap<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Another place to sit with your feet in the sand, but this time in the middle of Haarlem. Along the railroad and the Spaarne lies the for many familiar Stadsstrand de Oerkap. On sunny days the sun shines here practically all day, so it’s an ideal place to catch your breath. The food is simple, but tasty. During the day various sandwiches are served and in the evening you and your children can enjoy a homemade pizza. It’s like being on vacation on an Italian beach. Furthermore, there is often enough space for your kids to romp in the sand. What more could you want on a sunny day in Haarlem?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
